Rachel's favorite table setting

"What makes the perfect table setting?" is a question that I get asked often.  There are infinite possibilities when it comes to setting your table and it can feel a little overwhelming.  One of my favorite settings we have created at the shop is the Spring Garden Party tablescape.  I always like to start with a neutral plate and then layer different textures and materials.  A beautiful white dinner plate is always a nice foundation.  I was inspired by an outdoor garden party and layered accordingly.  The first layer is actually a throw that usually resides at the end of my bed.  Next round woven placemats were added to give a nice contrast to the tablecloth & dinnerware.  I mixed Vietri's "Incanto" and Arte Italica's "Merletto" together to create an artsy and interesting mix of dinnerware.  The monogram napkin tops off this setting with a sweet hydrangea napkin ring.  Hammered flatware and glasses offer up a warm look.  I made a sweet spring floral garland that ran down the middle of the table with curly willow branches and tucked in sweet hydrangeas and roses. Throw in a few votive candles, and the perfect garden table is set.

New Year's Goals

Dear Sweet Friends,

Starting this New Year, I have been extremely reflective. I'm not sure if it's because I turn 40 this year or after 18 New Year's at Ye Peddler, I really want to share with you and live out loud. You all mean so much to me. Ye Peddler has allowed me to be a small part of your beautiful moments and I never take that for granted. My best guess is that we have registered over 4000 couples since 1974 and hand tied over 65000 beautiful bows. I've had over sixty lovely women on staff serving our community and several going on to open their own businesses. I've experienced two wonderful business partners and even started a second business.

The truth is I love fresh starts, and my goal this year is to create a thoughtful, gracious environment. I want Ye Peddler to feel like a sanctuary that you can enjoy on a gray day. I want to uplift my customers with intentional inspiration and provide gifts & home decor that delight the soul. It will definitely take a few months for the transformation, but I hope you can feel the difference we are making as you visit our home. My prayer is that we will touch lives in a meaningful way through the work we do.

Many Blessings this New Year!

Southern Pride

I feel that tug of American Pride every time I meet a southern artisan.  Their desire to create handmade goods and share with the world seems almost heroic. Some of my favorite lines that are Southern Made include Out of My Hands Pottery, Thomas 154, Blessings Bowls, Three E Designs, Good Earth Pottery, and Freshie and Zero Jewelry.  Stop by the shop and check them out today!

Willa loves Ye Peddler!

Willa loves to work at Ye Peddler.  Even at four, she is very helpful around the shop.

She especially loves when her friends come shopping with their mothers, and they can sit together on the leopard steps.  We love when little shoppers come 'round.  Their bright eyes and curiosity are absolutely precious. In our opinion, every store should be kid friendly because kids are an absolute delight.

Willa can't wait to see you!

My favorite pair of earrings for Spring.

I love statement earrings!  They finish an outfit and are so easy just to slip on and run out the door.  They make even the most dull outfit sparkle!  That's why these Kendra Scott earrings are top on my list for favorite Spring Accessory.  The simple elegance and size are perfect...they say to me"Hello Rachel, Do you want to look fabulous today?".

Three unlikely things you need for Spring Cleaning.

I will be honest and vulnerable here!  I do NOT enjoying cleaning, and it is really hard for me to get motivated to do so.  I love to cook, I love to paint, and I love to play.  When it comes to maintaining, I would much rather invent.  Thank goodness for Pandora, a timer, and Caldrea!  With these three things, I find joy in cleaning.  Music soothes my soul, the timer allows me to be quick & efficient because I know my cleaning will have an end point, and the Caldrea home cleaning products smell divine.  Somehow with these three things, cleaning seems like a luxury event and not a mundane task.

1. Great Music - My personal favorite is Pandora.  I love to listen to these channels while I clean: Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Diana Krall, and Today's Hits!

2. A Timer - I always set the timer on my microwave.  Never exceed 20 minutes for a given task.

3. Caldrea - I LOVE Caldrea and have been using it in my home for years.  I change the scent with every season, and  I am so excited about their new fragrance for spring, Pear Blossom Agave.  It smells so fresh and clean, just perfect for when the buttercups are blooming. They are even making it in laundry detergent and dryer sheets...Aaaahhhh!!!

Does your home need a Spring ReFresh?

In our part of the county, we have been trapped in an "Icepocalypse" for the last week.  This wonderful gift of nature has given me lots (and I mean LOTS) of time to reevaluate our home.  I decided it was time for a reFresh.  Time to bust out the furniture sliders, dig into those lost boxes of accessories in the attic, and purge cabinets of pretty things hiding (aka pth).  Of course, I started as soon as the hubby walked out the door for work, he need not know of said happenings of home destruction.  I enlisted my kiddos help, and the reFresh began!

It's easy to freshen up your home for Spring.  Try some of these easy changes...

1.  Move your couch around - I moved my couch maybe 20x's to get it in just the right spot.

2.  Rearrange Artwork - Yes, I know this leaves holes in walls!  But that's why there is spackle and touch up paint.

3.  Move your draperies - I moved my kitchen drapes to my living room, and voila they felt brand new again!

4.  Set out books - I love to read books and look at magazines.  Stacks of books make a room feel real.  Stacks also make a nice stand for those pth that you found.

5.  Swap around pillows - I moved some pillows and a throw from our bedroom.  It's so nice to have a little more color in our living area.

6.  Add something New - It just needs to be one thing (or maybe two).

9 reasons to make an appointment with a Wedding Registry stylist

1. Scanners are fun, but they have zero personality.

2. Wedding Registry stylists are stylists, wahoo!

3. If a store knows you have an appointment, you are more likely to receive the royal treatment.

4. A WR stylist can give you invaluable information about the items your are selecting including care information and warranties.

5. A WR stylist can help you mix/match and create the ultimate table setting exclusively for you.

6. You will have created a relationship with a person at the store you registered, and it will make it so much easier to communicate with your personal WR stylist.

7. A WR stylist wants your new home to be perfect, and they will think of all the items needed to create it!

8. A WR stylist is also your gift advocate.  They can make suggestions to your guests and let them know which items were your favorites.

9. Registering for your wedding gifts should be fun and exciting, let a WR stylist create the ultimate experience and special memory just for you.
